Colombia. After two years of non-compliance and three extensions to make the economic remuneration for operation and exploitation of the public television service, the National Television Authority - ANTV declared the non-compliance to Global TV Telecomunicaciones for $ 1,386 million, a historical figure of the entity in terms of sanctions.
The company Global TV Telecomunicaciones S.A. is a former television concession that had a contract for the operation and exploitation of the public subscription television service in Colombia. This concession was granted in 1999, and after a long process for non-payment of operation and compensation, a sanction is imposed.
The National Television Authority gave the opportunity for payment in extension issued in 2010, however the Global TV Telecommunications Society did not meet any of the three deadlines to make the economic remuneration. Subsequently, in 2012 the form of compensation was modified and the company also did not pay for not agreeing with the change of compensation.
In this way, the ANTV undertakes the necessary actions in August 2014 to make it responsible for said breach, and after more than a year, the entity won the process against the concessionaire declaring the breach ordering the payment and cancellation of the pecuniary penal clause worth $ 1,386 million. In the coming days the National Television Board will adopt the decision in relation to the Concession.
With this fact, the National Television Authority reaffirms once again the commitment to give Colombians the television they deserve, guarantee the coverage of the service, regulate the sector and protect the viewer.
