Out of every 100 Peruvian households, 87 watch TV

Peru. The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru, INEI, announced that in the first quarter of 2015, according to the results of the National Survey of Strategic Programs, 2014-2015, 87% of households in the country watch television, while 13% do not. 

In the urban area, 97% of households watch television, while in the rural area only 53% do. By natural region, more television is watched on the coast (97%) than in the jungle (83%) and the mountains (71%).

Households in the department of Cajamarca watch less television

According to departments, only 59% of Cajamarca households watch television. Also in Puno (60%), Huancavelica (61%), Apurímac (62%) and Ayacucho (66%).

99 out of 100 Lima households watch TV

Among the departments with the highest number of households watching television are Lambayeque (97.6%), Tacna (97.5%) and Ica (97.1%). It is worth mentioning that almost 100% of households in Metropolitan Lima (98.8%) and the Constitutional Province of Callao (98.2%) watch television.

On the other hand, 98.4% of households in the highest strata are the ones that watch television the most and in the lowest stratum it is only 60.5%. 

79% of Peruvian households listen to radio

In the first quarter of 2015, 79% of households interviewed nationwide reported listening to radio. Households in rural areas listen to the most radio (82%), while in urban areas it is 78%. By region, the Sierra occupies the first place with 86%, followed by the jungle (77%) and the Coast (75%).

Tacneños households are the ones that listen to the most radio nationwide

Households in the department of Tacna listen the most to radio (92%), followed by Junín (91%), Cusco (91%), Pasco (89%), Puno (88%). While in Madre de Dios, only 55% of households listen to radio.

Between 2012 and 2015 radio tuning decreased
