Ericsson Mediaroom approves SeleniumNext and MCP technologies

International. Imagine Communications announced that its SelenioNext multi-screen/live transcoder and the Enconder Selenio Media Convergence Platform (MCP) have been approved for use with Ericsson Mediaroom's Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) platforms.

These transcoding and encoding products offer exceptional reliability, density and cost-effectiveness for IPTV and TV Everywhere developments, and are now applicable to the global Ericsson Mediaroom ecosystem.

"Our customers, partners and the industry as a whole need leaders to help them transform the way video is distributed, monetized and consumed, while providing a model for the network architecture of the future. Ericsson Mediaroom is one of the largest middleware providers in the world, and its validation ensures the interoperability of Imagine Communications' core technologies, expanding our presence in the global IPTV market," said Charlie Vogt, CEO of Imagine Communications.

SeleniumNext and Selenium MCP are imagine Communications' latest products to be approved by Ericsson Mediaroom, Imagine's SeleniumNext high-density adaptive bit rate (ABR) transcoding technology offers up to ten times more density and energy savings than other competing solutions, replacing a complete video processing headend on a single platform.

With the integration of multiple functions into a single COTS server platform, SelenioNext enables service providers to efficiently ingest pre-compressed services and trancode, package, encrypt and stream multi-screen video multi-device.

With this approval, Ericsson Mediaroom customers can now count on the best video quality encoding in its category of selenium MCP ENC1 in its ecosystem. In addition to providing a better user experience to your customers by improving overall video quality in the same datarate, you can rest assured that Imagine Communications encoders and transcoders will work within your environments with this validation.
