Colombia. Rohde & Schwarz's new platform for multi-visualization and content monitoring, called Prismon, was presented for Colombia within the framework of the AndinaLink 2015 fair, which was held in Cartagena.
Juan Pachón, from Rohde & Schwarz Colombia, explained that "this platform comes from a German company that bought Rohde & Schwarz two years ago. Prismon allows us to review the content at the niver of signage. For example, if a service signal freezes or loses audio, the system triggers an alarm that reports the content problem."
On the market situation in Colombia for the company, he stressed that "we come from an excellent year, where we made the deployment of the first face of digital terrestrial television for RTVC. In addition, we are finishing putting into operation the City TV transmission platform, with 7kw transmitters that will be installed at the Suba station in Bogotá and should be in service in May. These are the two big deals this fiscal year and with good expectations."
There is an issue that currently worries importers in Colombia, the exchange rate with a dollar that has risen by 25% in recent months and seems not to have yet peaked. And the television industry is no stranger to this phenomenon.
For Juan Pachón, the dollar "obviously affects. Even when we set quotes in euros, it does affect our clients, because they make their budgets based on a rate and now with a 25% higher dollar, they can buy fewer dollars. We have had an impact for this cause."
