International. Gartner named global telecommunications provider Level 3 Communications as Challenger in its 2015 Global Network Services Magic Quadrant* report for the first time, changing it from niche players.
Enterprises' needs for global network services are rapidly evolving driven by the adoption of cloud IT and the growing importance of emerging markets. The report evaluates providers capable of delivering fixed network services focused on providing optimal customer service.
Additionally, it recognizes key market changes for global customers including the need for global customers to access emerging capabilities such as cloud-based offerings and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), in order to achieve broad geographic coverage and maintain flexibility and agility when purchasing services.

"Focusing on delivering a great customer experience while meeting the ever-evolving needs of our global customer base has shaped Level 3's strategy for network expansion and innovative product offerings."
Recognizing the importance of a global strategy, Level 3 increased its network by adding 22 MPLS Points of Presence in key markets such as Marseille and Budapest, among others. By acquiring U.S.-based tw telecom, Level 3 tripled its on-net presence in North America to a total of 30,000 connected buildings.
