Colombia. A signal without telesales, with 24-hour programming and a new identity, is the future that awaits Channel One from the first quarter of 2014, according to information released by the National Television Authority, ANTV.
The regulatory body ratified with the concessionaires Jorge Barón/Sportsat, CMI Televisión and NTC S.A./Colombiana de Televisión, that the main objective is to turn Canal Uno into an attractive option for television audiences with good quality content offer. Radio Televisión de Colombia (RTVC) will contribute to this purpose, which, by order of the ANTV, will assume the programming of 25% of the spaces on the channel's grid.
The four companies that will program Channel One agreed to define the programming with harmonious, complementary and strategic criteria. In this regard, they agreed to eliminate telesales programmes, which in the future will be limited to short time in commercial spaces.
Thinking about the national and international audiences, they also determined that Channel One will broadcast 24 hours a day. Since January is a low month in audience and advertising guidelines, the programming companies agreed to make the official launch of the channel in February 2014.
In view of convergence and interaction with viewers, it was also decided to reactivate the Channel One website and strengthen the permanent presence on social networks.
The new grid was designed based on a comparative analysis of the offer of private and public television in the country, of the Latino channels of the United States and of the programming grids in Mexico and Venezuela to identify programming trends, as well as acceptance of programs by genres, schedules and titles.
The ANTV added that the result of this exercise was complemented by the foundations and objectives of public television, in particular with its mission to promote the intellectual and cultural development of Colombians, stimulate analysis and thought about the great issues of the country and stimulate cohesion around the fundamental values of nationality.
The end of the transition of Channel One will coincide with the operation of the Public Digital Terrestrial Television Network, so viewers will be able to see the new content of the channel in high definition and better quality
