International. The Walt Disney Studios and Christie signed an agreement whereby the latter will provide the studios with the latest in digital technologies as well as a wide variety of professional services in the fields of production, post-production, movie theaters and premieres.
Christie's North American Managed Services department will provide Disney with a qualified technical team with 24-hour assistance for the studios' digital cinema facilities, supported by the NOC (Christie Network Operations Center), also located in North America, and preventive on-site maintenance services.
Both companies will share ideas and innovations on projection technology aimed at offering audiences never-before-seen cinematic experiences. Disney will enjoy immediate access to Christie's technologies as they emerge and will contribute to product development, including laser projection, 4K projection and Integrated Media Block technology.
Jeff Miller, President of Studio Operations at The Walt Disney Studios, said, "The agreement with Christie assures our films and studios of state-of-the-art technology and projection services. In addition, we are excited about the possibility of working closely with Christie to fine-tune and improve projection technologies."
Throughout 2013, Christie will supply Disney with a combination of 2K and 4K Solaria Series DLP Cinema projectors. Delivery will begin at Disney's world headquarters in Burbank, California.
