International. Vitec Group announced the acquisition of California-based Teradek, which will be part of its Videocom division. Teradek is a provider of wireless HD video devices and platforms that are used in the contribution of broadcasting and distribution, video production, Internet broadcasting and digital cinema.
All Teradek products are designed and manufactured in the U.S. and sold internationally. The acquisition is in line with Vitec Videocom's strategy of introducing innovative products and solutions that improve the operational efficiency of its customers.
Vitec Videocom CEO Matt Danilowicz commented: "Whether you're a film director looking for a joint monitoring system, an ENG journalist to broadcast breaking news from a difficult environment, or a professional live-streaming cameraman, Teradek's products will allow us to offer an affordable solution for our customers' wireless transmission requirements."
Teradek employs about 60 people at its headquarters in Irvine, California. It was founded in 2008 by Nicol Verheem, a former GE engineer who will join the management team of vitec Videocom's division as part of the acquisition.
