International. The production service provider that was in charge of broadcasting the Super Bowl last weekend, NEP Broadcasting, used sony professional high-definition cameras in each of the segments, both for the broadcast and for subsequent videos.
According to George Hoover, Senior Vice President of Engineering at NEP, "This is the big game of the year and for every transmission, production requirements are becoming more complex. We're always looking for new ways to improve on previous years, and the flexibility and performance of these cameras provide exactly what we need each time."
He refers to the 30 HDC-1500 and HDC-2500 multiformat cameras, which were located throughout the stadium so as not to lose the detail of the final championship game, between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens, the latter being the winners.
With this production equipment, which also included a Sony MVS-8000 production switcher, NEP Broadcasting produced several trailers with pre- and post-game footage, match and halftime footage, as well as for CBS's main broadcast in the United States.
Alec Shapiro, president of Sony Electronics' Professional Solutions of America group, said: "This is the eighth consecutive year that Sony has provided its professional HD equipment for the Super Bowl. It's one of the biggest events for TV production, and viewers really benefited from the advanced production equipment used to broadcast this game."
