Argentina. Seeking that the entire population can enjoy the benefits of digital television, the Argentine government is carrying out a project through which it intends to create decoders with applications for the disabled population.
The information, released by Juan Manuel Zorzoli and Luis Chaura, members of the Advisory Board of Digital TV, indicates that the accessible set-top box is being worked on with the association of a private company, but that it must be socialized with the production companies so that there is also inclusive content, because there are few developments in this regard.
The goal of the Argentine government is to deliver 100,000 free set-top boxes to the disabled population of their country. The idea is that these equipment include applications with sign language, close caption or audio-descriptions, function for blind people, as well as modify the letters in their size and color, guided by a voice command.
In this project, in which they have been working for a year, they also contemplate a special design for the remote control, because it will be with a different design, a larger size if required, with Braile codes on the buttons, and other particular functions that welcome the accessibility recommendations for the entire population.
And it is that one of the motivations of the Advisory Council of the Digital TV of Argentina to develop this project, is that the statistics indicate that 10% of the population has disability problems, and that is why they require special attention that they also want to give from digital TV.
