International. The company Juniper Research released a report on the future of mobile television, in which it revealed that by 2014 about 240 million users will use their mobile phones to watch streaming content.
The above results will be possible thanks to the overall increase in smartphone penetration and an increasing use of real-time and on-demand services , both on televisions and computers.
Another cause of this growth is the need for consumers to access content such as sports and news in real time. These types of content are constantly changing and mobile TV allows viewers to access events as they occur.
According to Charlotte Miller, author of the report, smartphones are allowing the consumer to take the TV experience away from home. In addition, the ubiquity of free Wi-Fi is also changing the way users access content.
Another important conclusion of the study is that by 2016 10% of the revenue generated by mobile TV will come from tablet-type devices.
