Colombia. The Empresa de Teléfonos de Bogotá, ETB, will begin to offer subscription television service in the cities of Bogotá and Cúcuta, after closing a purchase agreement with the company Ingelcom.
The news was confirmed by the president of the ETB, Saúl Kattan, who stressed that the process had begun in August 2011 and that the operation, which is part of the modernization process of the company, ranges between $ 10,000 and $ 12,000 million pesos.
After this negotiation, the Bogotá company will be able to offer fixed telephony and broadband services, with which it is a leader in the Colombian capital, as well as television and cellular telephony, the latter announced in recent days.
To execute this ambitious plan, the company received authorization from the shareholders' meeting for a debt of up to US$600 million, money required to comply with plans to expand the fiber optic network and the television business.
The business is very attractive if you take into account that in recent days Ingelcom received authorization from the National Television Authority of Colombia to extend its market to other cities, including Villavicencio. Television services under the ETB brand are expected to begin in the last months of 2012.
