United States. With the adoption of digital television by Latin American countries, everyone thinks about image, but the region is indebted to the quality of digital audio and 5.1, with the exception of Brazil, which has advanced work on the matter.
Experts gathered at NAB Show 2012 point to a lack of technical knowledge about audio, both from companies in the television industry and consumers, as one of the main causes.
For Gilibert Felix, application engineer for Latin America at Linear Acoustic, this is a process that is just beginning and that requires time for consumers to start acquiring the necessary equipment to enjoy digital audio, because otherwise it would be a waste of time for broadcast companies.
In this regard, Rafael Rodriguez, Celtec's representative for Mexico, added that this situation is changing and companies are beginning to be interested in video and audio together.
At the same time, it is a market opportunity for audio companies in the region. In the case of Celtec, a company from England, a little less than a year ago it opened an office in Los Angeles that will be directly responsible for serving the countries of Latin America. Today it has a presence in Mexico, Chile and Colombia.
For its part, Linear Acoustic has an audio processor that facilitates the technological transition of audio, because it has analog input and both analog and digital output.
