Colombia. Discovery Communications, owner of well-known channels such as the one with the same name, reached an agreement with the Colombian government to begin producing television series from that country, which will be broadcast both on public television and on the company's channels.
The information was released by Diego Molano, Minister of ICT of Colombia, who said that the objective is to produce content of global quality, as well as to promote and promote the training of national human talent in television production issues.
The agreement was signed by David Zaslav, President of Discovery Communications; Francisco Ortiz, Manager of RTVC, and the ICT Minister, Diego Molano Vega.
As part of the agreement for the production of the series, they will have national and international experts who will form a committee that will guarantee that the topics developed in the co-productions are of interest, both for the country and outside it.
The first co-production is expected to be airing during the second half of this year. In addition, the agreement also includes the production company Discovery opening an office in Colombia, to seek business opportunities around television production.
"Discovery Communications became interested in our country thanks to the conditions of maturity of the local content industry and the effort of this government with its Vive Digital Plan, which seeks a convergent and quality public television," explained Diego Molano.
