Colombia. To integrate all the professionals involved in the television industry, the India Catalina Awards in its 2012 edition will have a new modality of choosing the winners.
The process of choosing these was divided into two stages. The first will choose between the 380 candidates for 39 categories through a technical committee made up of representatives of public and private channels, as well as national and regional and local channels. In total there are nine people chosen for the technical committee.
Then, through a national call, the "Committee of Voting Members" will be chosen, made up of an equal number of representatives from the different sectors of the national television industry.
Filmmakers , producers, directors, librettists, conceptual editors, actors, presenters and academic television experts may participate in these, with at least seven years of certified experience in the medium and eight years for both technical staff and those who have accumulated experience in the different positions mentioned above.
The directors of the awards stressed that with this new selection modality they seek to guarantee a greater participation of the members of the television industry.
