Mexico. The Comisión Federal de Telecomunicaciones, Cofetel, begins the second stage of its public consultation to know the opinion of Mexicans in the concession of more television channels.
At this stage, people will be able to fill out the questionnaire approved by the plenary session of the Assembly of the Commission. The maximum deadline to complete it is the seventh of December and only the people registered during the first stage can do it, that is, from November 14 to 22.
In order for people who wish to complete the questionnaire to have more prior information, Cofetel made available to the public a reference document that contains a balance of the concessions in Mexico.
The document states that in this country 95% of the concessions are between Televisa and Azteca and the rest are held by 17 independent local networks.
In addition, it has information regarding the spectral capacity identified and other elements such as advertising market, costs associated with the installation of television channels and aspects of international experience.
Although the results of this consultation are not mandatory for the Commission, they will allow it to know the opinion of all the actors in the Mexican television industry and have a greater vision when making decisions on the tenders of new television channels.
