United States. One of the main television channels for Hispanic audiences in the United States, Univisión, will have its contents available online through the Hulu online television service.
"Univision is committed to making the television shows that Hispanics love in the United States accessible anytime, anywhere. The demand for content is tremendous, and this will be the first time our programming will be available online," said Tonia O'Connor, president of distribution sales and marketing for Univision Communications Inc.
The agreement reached between the two companies will allow Hulu subscribers, both in the free and paid service, to access the channel's flagship programs one day after they are broadcast on television.
In addition, it is important to remember that Univision owns the U.S. online broadcast rights to Televisa's programs, which will generate greater value for both viewers and advertisers.
Hulu executives highlighted the importance of starting to captivate the Latino market, explained Andy Forsell, Hulu's senior vice president of content acquisition, stating that "the Hispanic market is an important audience. It's young, dynamic and growing, so it's an audience of great interest to advertisers."
