China has positioned itself as a major technology manufacturer. That is why a global health alert for Covid-19 or Coronavirus, a virus that has originated in that country, will have important impacts on the industry and the world economy during this year.
Due to the confinement measures of some Chinese cities, the production of factories has been stopped, mainly affecting the manufacture of screens and components, in what has to do with our industry. And estimates of the impact on both the Chinese and global economies are rising day by day.
Although at the time of writing this editorial letter in Latin America no case was known, Covid-19 has had impacts in the region. The Andina Link Cartagena fair, which takes place the first week of March, announced that 13 Chinese exhibitors will not be able to be at the fair and 17 more companies of the same origin will be attended by their distributors and local representatives.
It is also expected to know what measures and impacts this alert will have at NAB Show, which will be held in mid-April in Las Vegas and fair that has a strong presence of people and companies of Chinese origin.
We hope that the health authorities will achieve a rapid control of this virus that will allow to stop the fatalities, its global expansion, as well as the impact on the economy and the industry.
