MADRID, 18 Apr. (Portaltic/EP) -
Amazon may have acquired the virtual assistant and voice finder Evi, anonymous sources have told TechCrunch. The company would have paid 26 million dollars (19 million euros) for the application and, it is rumored, include it in the future to its own devices or create new ones.
Following the launch of Apple's voice search engine, Siri, Nuance licensed its voice recognition technology. With this, he created an app that works on both iPhone and Android, called Evi. Now, according to TechCrunch sources, Amazon has bought this search engine for 26 million dollars (19 million euros).
When the iPhone 4S went on sale, it was also presented to Siri, the search engine's search engine through language. With it, users would not have the need to use their hands to navigate through their 'smartphone' and it would always answer the questions they asked.
The companies have not wanted to declare or say anything about the possible purchase, but the latest movements in positions of the company suggest this. Several senior executives, such as Evi Technologies' chief legal officer or corporate secretary, have been replaced by Amazon employees.
Evi is an application that works on any iOS or Android smartphone. It uses language to understand and respond to users' needs, "unlike a search engine, which simply seeks to join words and a list of websites, Evi understands what it wants to know and tells you exactly what you're looking for," they write in the app's description.
