MADRID, 18 Apr. (Portaltic/EP) -
The Spanish multinational specialized in 'cloud hosting' services(hosting of servers in the cloud), Gigas, opens a new office in the Latin American market, this time in Santiago de Chile.
In accordance with its expansion plan, in just 16 months the company has managed to increase its presence nationally and internationally, with four delegations. Madrid (November 2011), London (January 2012), Bogotá (October 2012), and now Santiago de Chile (March 2013).
As was confirmed last October, when the second round of financing amounting to 3 million euros took place, this new investment pursued two objectives. First, the completion of the consolidation process in Spain, increasing the number of customers and employees. Secondly, to boost its international expansion, specifically to the Spanish-speaking market where it is already present in two countries and where upcoming openings are expected throughout this year.
Gigas currently has more than 1,500 corporate clients, hosted between its datacenters in Spain and the USA. The pace of growth translates into the incorporation of more than 100 customers per month, which bring a double-digit growth in turnover month by month. Thanks to these results, the company is positioning itself as a benchmark company in the Spanish-speaking markets.
The cloud hosting sector in Latin America has great growth potential. Thus, in just four years the total volume of the cloud hosting business is expected to be almost six times higher, going from 238 million dollars in 2012 to reach 1,380 million dollars in 2016, according to Gartner.
According to the CEO of Gigas, Diego Cabezudo, "the goal is to become the reference company in Spanish-speaking countries. We know it is an ambitious goal, but achievable, just as we have done in Spain in record time."
The new office in Santiago de Chile, like the one in Bogotá, serves local companies with local staff, offering the best possible commercial and technical support, within the Gigas philosophy of excellence in service. "For Gigas it is important to make known in the Chilean market the concept of pay per use applied to the cloud server service, as well as all the advantages associated with this model, such as cost savings of around 40 percent, use of cutting-edge technology, improvement of competitiveness," says Cabezudo.
