Latin America. Rohde & Schwarz announces a real change of technology for the amplification of uplink signals. The PKU100 is 100% based on the use of transistor end stages and offers a real alternative to the usual valve technology on the market. For example, if a transistor breaks down, the amplifier continues to operate at lower power.
The PKU100 is as light, compact and moderate in power consumption as ordinary valve amplifiers and therefore superior to equivalent semiconductor-based products currently available. Its adaptive pre-correction function is so far unique in the market.
It improves signal quality so that network operators can transmit much more data with the same signal bandwidth. The amplifier offers more output power, but at the same time is extraordinarily efficient and reduces operating expenses.
The equipment is available in two models, indoor and outdoor, and is used in both ground stations and satellite journalism vehicles (also known by its acronym in English as SNG, satellite news gathering).
Rohde & Schwarz has also paid attention to the power supply of the R&S PKU100. It can be optionally equipped with redundant power supplies to ensure operation in the event of a power supply failure.
The solid state amplifier is available with a power of 400 W or 750 W, with frequency ranges of 12.75 GHz to 13.25 GHz and 13.75 GHz to 14.5 GHz respectively, thus covering the Ku band. The R&S PKU100 can be equipped with a block upconverter (BUC).
In this way, low-frequency signals from the L-band can be processed and transferred to the Ku-band. The R&S PKU100 can be controlled remotely with all the most common standards, either through a WEB interface or by SNMP, RS232 or parallel I/O interfaces.
