Igson provides election pattern control with signal blocking

Latin America. In an election year like the one Latin America is experiencing in 2018, it is important that a DTT platform has the ability to switch between national and regional or local content. Regionalization or signal blocking is essential to control patterns of all kinds (electoral, commercial, promotional, etc.) and helps build a successful business model.

Automating lockdowns is a simple and safe way to avoid penalties during election campaigns and to increase revenue through regional or local advertising.

The systems of the Igson company offer regional broadcasters, repeaters or cable operators to automate the local transmission of content and advertising guidelines, special broadcasts, government guidelines, electoral campaigns or sporting events.

It is important to keep in mind the cost-benefit ratio when investing in a robust platform that can meet blocking needs by optimizing costs and investments.

How does signal blocking automation work?
DTMF tones are usually embedded in the baseband signal in one of the available audio channels. In the IGSON automator, the combinations of tones are configured, as well as the "preroll" time that defines how many seconds you have to wait between the reception of the tone and the input to the local pattern.

Upon receiving a DTMF tone, the IGSON automator analyzes it and whether the combination is correct switches the central signal to your local or regional playout. Switching can be done without any additional hardware using the same IGSON software, as well as controlling a routing switcher or any other type of switch by means of GPI pulses.

Use during election campaigns:

During the election year, many channels are faced with the need to have to reproduce electoral guidelines according to strict regulations, given the risk of heavy fines in case of error or non-compliance. To solve this situation successfully and avoid possible human errors, Igson offers the automated blocking module that is incorporated into both Igson PlayNow and Igson Broadcast Center.
