Corona recorded his last commercial with Blackmagic

Mexico. The DaVinci Resolve Studio 14 program was used in the post-production of a new commercial for Corona Extra, created by Mexican agency Leo Burnett and filmed by cinematographer Filippo Chiesa.

Director and filmmaker Leonardo Dalessandri was in charge of producing an ad that paid tribute to Mexico and included both its unique filming technique and the image of the brand developed by the agency, given its previous experience in other ads for companies such as Apple, Google and Coca-Cola.

This is the first time that Dalessandri has turned to DaVinci Resolve 14 with the aim of carrying out the entire post-production process of the announcement, entitled "This Spirit".

"Although I knew my work dynamic was slow and ineffective, I was reluctant to change. However, I found the possibility of using the same program in different aspects of post-production very interesting. Version 14 of DaVinci Resolve is particularly suitable for the way I like to work, as I don't use low-resolution material when editing," says Leonardo.

According to Dalessandri, it's not simply about how fast or efficient one can be. "Resolve not only allows me to work better, with greater speed and efficiency, but also gives me the ability to be more accurate than I imagined, from a creative point of view, during post-production."

Since it was necessary to organize the recorded copycats for two weeks, the edition was divided into two stages. "The first step was to review everything we had filmed. After making the initial selection, we were able to start creating a first version based on the script. The montage was fundamental, because it helps to establish that feeling of kinetic energy that I like to include in my works. It doesn't matter only which shot you choose, but also the front and back. The movement must be continuous."

The entire advertisement was shot 4K using various cameras, dalessandri said. "However, Resolve was able to process the different formats without any problems. The program gives you the opportunity to work in a very effective way, regardless of the resolution you use."
