IBC. Expanding its range of Electronic Control System (ECS) accessories, ARRI announces four new Master Grip grips that offer unprecedented fingertip control capability for ARRI and third-party cameras and lenses for handheld camera shooting.
The main function of traditional kinematic-style grips is to firmly stabilize a camera over the operator's shoulder. Document camera setups include a servo zoom with the handle, allowing you to control some lens and camera functions.
In today's industry, the worlds of film equipment and documentary equipment, hitherto separate, have merged. Also, small cameras like the ALEXA Mini have a reduced user interface and require external camera controls. This has generated a demand for solid film grips with documentary-style controls.
In response to this requirement ARRI has developed the Master Grips, the latest addition to its range of Electronic Control System products. The Master Grips combine effective camera stabilization with full lens and camera control and are available in four versions: right-side and left-side grips, either with a rocker switch for extraordinarily smooth zoom movement or with a finger-to-handle wheel for diaphragm or focus adjustments.
Lightweight and built with the unsurpassed ARRI quality standards, the Master Grips have been made with alexa, AMIRA and other camera users in mind who are looking for a flexible touch control and quick response when shooting camera in hand.
Proven design
Based on the classic ARRIFLEX grips that have been trusted by generations of filmmakers, the Master Grips follow a proven ergonomic design. With easily accessible controls that are protected to avoid accidental activation, these grips allow prolonged handheld camera handling without generating discomfort or fatigue. Built around a lightweight molten magnesium housing, the Master Grips are solid, rugged and reliable, capable of withstanding sustained use in harsh shooting environments.
Versatile controls
Master Grips provide full control of focus, diaphragm and zoom settings in cinema lenses including motor speed, zoom response and adjustable motor limits. They also offer a convenient way to control the servo motors integrated into news (ENG) and EF lenses (from SUP 5.0 of the ALEXA Mini/AMIRA.
Initially solon offers diaphragm support for EF lenses). Mounted on panning tripod arms or pedestal heads for study, master grips can be used for focus and zoom for multi-camera setups, just like when using the AMIRA in Multicam mode. Camera control functionality includes access to user and REC start/stop buttons for ARRI and third-party cameras. The latter require the LCUBE CUB-1 accessory, updated with the CUB-1 SUP 2.0.
Easy to use
With an intuitive user interface, master grips are easy to set up, either through the built-in touchscreen or real buttons. The controls are fully configurable and its status reading system reinforces user confidence, with the multilingual display that allows you to read menus and statuses in English, Chinese, Spanish and German.
