IBC. Thanks to numerous innovations and a consequent reduction in the elementary characteristics for the transmission service, the R&S TMU9compact offers a wide range of functions occupying the minimum space. At the same time, it provides maximum efficiency, operating safety and signal quality, aspects that constitute the most important characteristics of a transmitter.
The R&S TMU9compact is conceived as a scalable system, and thus responds to needs of all kinds. It can function either as a simple transmitter, composed only of exciter and amplifier, or as a transmitter system with comfort equipment, including system control, rack, GPS infrastructure, ventilation system and other components.
For the first time, the R&S Doherty multiband technology, exclusive worldwide, which Rohde & Schwarz has been continuously developing since its introduction into the R&S Tx9 transmitter generation, is incorporated into the compact class. Thanks to this, the medium power transmitter achieves an energy efficiency of up to 35 percent. Compared to other transmitters in its category, this represents a reduction in energy costs of up to 50 percent.
In professional television networks, the biggest advantage is the possibility of prolonging the time on the air as much as possible. Contributing above all are the high quality of Rohde & Schwarz products, options such as an integrated exciter backup battery, as well as innovative redundancy concepts. Consequently, the transmitter provides maximum operating safety and fault resistance within its class.
The transmitter can be easily and hassle-freely integrated into a variety of environments, such as a desktop transmitter or mounted on 19-inch racks. In any case, the adaptation requirements are minimal, which translates into maximum savings in infrastructure. Functioning as a single drive transmitter with integrated DVB-S/DVB-S2 contribution requires only 3 rack units for an output power of 400 W, or 4.5 rack units for 600 W. In addition, it hardly generates waste heat.
The R&S TMU9compact also minimizes service interventions, providing virtually error-free operating safety. Even so, it is perfectly prepared for possible anomalies with an intelligent error diagnosis system that can also be controlled remotely.
The information obtained in this way allows to eliminate breakdowns efficiently and put the transmitter back into operation with maximum ease and speed. Thanks to its modular structure, the customer can replace and repair most of the components himself. The R&S TMU9compact is equipped with an adaptive digital equalization (ADE) function, which allows the signal quality and efficiency to be optimally adapted to the defined power and output frequency after the intervention.
Another very practical function for the user is the continuous display on the amplifier screen of the Doherty band configured at all times, even without power supply. If a spare amplifier is required, there is no need to turn it on first or open its housing.
The new R&S TMU9compact medium-power UHF transmitter can now be purchased through Rohde & Schwarz with an output power of 400 W up to 600 W, with simple configuration (single drive) and backup (backup drive), as well as passive reserve and N+1.
As a complement to the R&S Tx9 transmitter generation, it is optimized for the power range spanned by low-power transmitters and racked medium-power transmitters. Like all other models in this range of transmitters, it can be supplied in a short time regardless of the volume of the order.
