Latin America. Sony has unveiled its latest NXCAM camcorder, the HXR-NX5R, which replaces the popular NX5 and NX3 solutions to deliver networking and increased capture performance.
High-quality color images and high sensitivity are made possible by three 1/2.8" Exmor® Full HD CMOS sensors and 40x sharp image zoom, which doubles optical zoom without losing image quality, plus multi-format recording to meet a wide variety of applications and recording environments such as live events. including weddings or corporate productions.
To offer a considerable improvement in overall image quality, the latest updates made from the NX3 and NX5 models also include a 3G-SDI terminal that supports Full HD output at 60p. The HXR-NX5R also includes the first LED video torch with adjustable brightness to minimize the need for external lighting equipment.
In addition, this advanced technology uses a digital signal processor (DSP), advanced noise reduction and extraordinary detail reproduction to deliver images that are extraordinarily realistic in terms of texture and level of detail. A direct menu function and a precise joystick have also been added to increase ease of use.
The HXR-NX5R provides content creators with new enhanced networking features, including FTP and live streaming, with built-in Wi-Fi, as well as the ability to record simultaneous backups through two SD card slots that increase reliability and adaptability at the toughest live events.
A variety of advanced 50 Mbps XAVC S or standard AVCHD/DV recording formats are available, designed to accommodate a wide range of workflows and customer requirements, as well as for content creators to modify their production based on the image quality they need.
The HXR-NX5R features easy-to-use direct functions and an accurate joystick, making it easier to access key camera functions without entering the menu, on the fly, along with a wide viewing angle and a high-contrast OLED viewfinder to control the image.
New professional features allow content creators to reduce costs by minimizing the need for additional accessories, as for example, the multi-interface hot shoe supports a UWP-D series wireless microphone receiver without the need for cables or a battery.
Sony has also announced its new compact multifunction remote control, designed to improve and expand the possibilities of multi-camera recording, as well as to increase creative possibilities, remotely. The RM-30BP is the successor to the RM-1000BP, the first full multifunction remote control.
Ideal for freelancers and budget productions, you can work with this lightweight remote control in your hand, placed on a table or on a tripod. The RM-30BP can control most of a camera's functions, including:
• Lens control: one-press/manual autofocus, iris and zoom control
• Camera control: recording/viewing functions, shutter speed, white balance, with six assignable buttons included
• Multi-camera playback and control (up to 3 cameras)
The new remote control can also be connected to the new MCX-500 to control the camera directly from the mixer, and is compatible with the new HXR-NX5R and PXW-FS7 v4.0. Compatibility with other Sony camcorders is expected soon.
The new MCX-500 is an all-in-one mixer system ideal for live events or corporate productions, which is designed to work with the NX5R and RM-30BP for multi-camera operations. The MCX-500 sends Tally PGM/PVW signals to each HXR-NX5R. This feature allows the operator to know which camera has been selected for the live shows, allowing content creators to accept assignments for which they would have previously needed helpers or a larger team.
