Due to regulatory standards that are gradually incorporated, Latin American countries -such as Mexico- will have to insert subtitles in their Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) transmission. To do this, Enco offers a fully automated solution, said Gilbert Felix, sales director for Latin America at the company.
"The most recent thing we showed is the enCaption3, a closed captioning tool. Because in Latin America, particularly in Mexico, there will be a standard that begins in January 2017. All TV channels in the country must have closed captionig and this equipment is for the subject of live broadcasts. It is an automatic subtitling system; it doesn't need someone listening and writing, because it's a voice recognition system," he said.
During the demonstrations at Expo Cine, TV y Video 2016, in Mexico City, he said: "It is a voice recognition technology and works in 16 languages. For example we have the version of Latin Spanish, European Spanish. It is a hardware and software package that we send to the customer. We create the text, which is imported into an encoder that includes the text that is embedded in the video. An encoder will be necessary, but we have the most difficult part, which is the text, all in real time – with a short delay of four to seven seconds."
Felix said: "We have the accuracy of enCaption3 between 90% and 80%."
