Latin America. Blackmagic Design announced that the special effects and graphic animation program is now available for Mac OS X and Windows operating systems, through the company's website.
Also, this is the first release of a free version for Mac, since previously the application was only compatible with Windows. Now it is also possible to acquire licenses for 10, 20 or 50 users and thus simplify the installation of the program in larger studios and large work teams.
Multi-user versions include a usb electronic key programmed with different licenses, which can be connected to computers with Fusion Server. The latter is installed by default together with Fusion Studio and allows you to manage permissions over an Ethernet network, since they are not linked to a single computer. This feature provides greater flexibility for assigning licenses in companies with a large number of users.
The availability of a free version for Mac computers gives a greater number of artists the possibility to create special effects of professional quality and opens the doors to an unprecedented number of editors, designers and composers of graphic animations, among other specialists. On the other hand, projects can be opened on both Mac and Windows, so that users can choose the computing platform they prefer. From this line, anyone will be able to access the same high-end tools used by the best hollywood professionals for the creation of visual effects.
Fusion 8 presents an intuitive and modern interface, so the first approach to the program is simple. At the same time, it preserves the main elements, to prevent more experienced users from having the need to become familiar again with the arrangement of the tools. The new access for Mac OS X operating systems also involved updating the program's internal architecture. Now that the onboarding phase is complete, fusion's team of engineers will begin working alongside the special effects community to add new features and continue the innovation process.
Fusion has been one of Hollywood's preferred tools in special effects and graphic animation for more than 25 years. It has been used in thousands of feature films and television projects, including "Thor," "Edge of Tomorrow," the Hunger Games trilogy, "The Fall of the White House" and "Battlestar Galactica."
Fusion makes it as easy as possible to create sophisticated special effects very quickly through its innovative nodal interface. Nodes are small icons that represent different masks, filters, and other functions related to image processing. These can be connected in any order to create an unlimited number of effects and are organized just like a flowchart, to avoid users the need to search for different elements among an infinity of overlapping layers. Unlike other timeline-based applications, Fusion allows you to view any part of a project without difficulty and make the necessary adjustments simply by clicking on a node.
"Some of the best designers and specialists in graphic animations and special effects prefer the Mac operating system, but the availability of programs has always been more limited or very expensive. The most amazing thing about this release is that, thanks to the free version, the possibility of generating special effects and graphic animations is now within reach of more people than ever before. In turn, the projects made with Fusion 8 are fully compatible with the paid version, so users can switch platforms whenever they want," said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design.
