International. Matthews has recently formed a new partnership with James Saldutti to manufacture his special Dutti Dolly for the general market in the United States and abroad. Dutti Dolly has become the support of great filmmakers such as James Muro and Joaquín Sedillo ASC.
When Saldutti was working with James Muro, he realized the cinematographer's desire to make low recordings. The rolling platforms out there go too high on the road, Saldutti explained. "At the time I came up with a setup that I thought might work for a movie. Who knew it would become the path to the piece of equipment in every project I do?"
Saldutti's solution is configured so that it can be carried much easier, saving costly travel and setup time. James Muro loves it. The Dutti rolling platform makes for an intuitive driving experience, where there is not a lot of equipment.
"Although there are many different types of Dolly configurations on the market, James Saldutti has come up with a unique approach that fills a need in the market today, which is the fast pace," said Robert Kulesh, MSE's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Not only can it help teams multitask, it's also light enough to move quickly and works low enough to get into places where many other platforms can't."
