Argentina. Tektronix currently has a complete portfolio of solutions for the broadcast industry, ensuring image and sound quality - including expanded options for the analysis and monitoring of the 4K format. During the IBC the company demonstrated its technology in video over IP that included solutions for synchronization and time for PTP, as well as measurements and analysis on IP.
With the growing demand for 4K/UHDTV1 content and the emerging trend towards video over IP, the broadcast industry is facing many changes in different directions. Regardless, broadcasters need comprehensive tools to ensure the quality of their content, from production and post-production to delivery to viewer. At the same time, they need the flexibility for this transition to new technologies.
Highlights at IBC were the 4K/UHDTV1 Waveform Monitors and Rasterizers, a new range of solutions for 4K format analysis, 4K image quality analysis and HEVC/H.265 network video monitoring.
Tektronix Supports an Industry in Transition. This is an issue where the brand puts focus, the transition from SDI to IP-based infrastructures that allow a more efficient and cost-effective distribution of UHD/4K signals. In addition to the video over IP technology demonstrations mentioned above, Tektronix is one of the industry leaders collaborating with Sony on its video over IP initiative , including support for Sony's live over IP production system.
It has also recently joined TICO Alliance. TICO is a new lightweight compression technology that provides visual lossless compression up to 4:1 and allows 4K/UHD content to be transported to the SDI infrastructure, as well as in production and contribution networks of 10 GigE in IP.
Other novelties of Tektronix are: the new HEVC/H.265. The most efficient HEVC/H.265 compression technology will be critical when 4K/UHD content begins to be delivered to viewers. At IBC, Tektronix has demonstrated a video quality monitoring solution for HEVC/H.265 encoded streams as part of an update to its video quality monitoring solution.
These technologies will be on display during Caper 2015.
