NAB. There are four new cameras that Panasonic presented as part of its novelties at NAB 2015. Models range from the portable AJ-PX380 AVC-ULTRA for recording and broadcasting news, the 4K AK-UB300 for multiple outdoor uses and the AK-UC3000 systems in 4K and AK-HC5000 in HD for studio.
The AJ-PX380 shoulder-mountable portable camcorder with AVC-ULTRA technology offers comprehensive interconnect features and a dual recording codec, making it an ideal tool for the demanding news production job.
Panasonic's AVC-ULTRA multi-codec delivers master quality and/or a 10-bit low-bit-rate, with 4:2:2 HD recording to meet a wide variety of user needs, from mastering to streaming. Record in AVC-LongG to send content to the air directly from the location and for workflows when using the transferred content on the Internet.
The camera integrates network functions to work with wired LAN, wireless LAN and 4G/LTE connections, which allow streaming and uploading data to a fast server through a laptop, tablet or smartphone. With just 2.8 kilos of weight, this camcorder incorporates 3-MOS sensors of 1/3 "of high sensitivity and low noise to produce images, even in low light conditions.
The second 4K camera is the AK-UB300 model, a multipurpose device that can be used in mobile studios, for the reporting of weather and vehicular traffic news, image magnification or for applications in different sports. It is equipped with a 1" MOS sensor that generates a UHD signal of up to 3,840x2,160/59.94p/50p with HD output capability simultaneously (up to 1,080/59.94p/50p).
This camera uses 2/3 inch lenses with high sensitivity (F10/2000lx), low noise (S/N 60dB) and dynamic range measured at 600% (-6dB~36dB). This model is compatible with the Panasonic line of pan-tilt support and motion systems for indoor and outdoor use.
Streaming video can be done in various forms, formats, and speeds. From four channels H.264 or JPEG streaming and up to 10 simultaneous cameras in IP-Live mode.
Two new cameras for studio use
Panasonic expanded its range of studio cameras with two additions: the AK-UC3000 4K system and the AK-HC5000, with quality up to 1080p in 239.76p/200p.
Focused on studios and productions that require high levels of functionality at an affordable price, the AK-UC3000 system has a sensor that generates both a UHD signal of up to 3840/2160/60p, as well as a high quality image in HD. The B4 type mount allows the 2/3" lens range to be coupled, which optimizes the investment by facilitating the use of existing lenses and filters.
For its part, the AK-HC5000 system is very fast, high resolution, capable of delivering a signal of 1080/200p, so it will become the flagship model of Panasonic for studio use. The camera incorporates new 3-CMOS 2.2M 2/3" type sensors of high sensitivity (F11/2000lx), low noise level (S/N 60dB +) and resolution of 1,100 television lines.
Both studio camera systems will be available in the winter of 2015, with prices to be announced.
