International. Pico Digital introduced a new mini cable modem system, known as miniCMTS, optimized for multifamily residential applications, private networks, and small cable providers. Sporting a broad set of features at a low price, the miniCMTS200a combines high-speed data delivery with support for 400 DOCSIS cable modems and an intuitive web interface.
Part of digital Pico's Condor digital solutions, the miniCMTS200a supports up to 400 Docsis 2.0 or 250 Docsis 3.0 modems plus 150 Docsis 2.0. The unit offers 16 downlinked channels of up to 800 Mbps downstream and four upstream channels offering 120 Mbps of upstream data delivery, while its extensive web interface allows for easy configuration of puration management.
The miniCMTS200a enables high-speed data services that must be cost-effectively provided to residential, commercial properties, and academic and medical facilities, as well as the hospitality industry. The unit's bandwidth easily copes with the current demand for video services over the top or managed IPTV services.
"Our miniCMTS200a is ideal for MDUs, private networks, and anyone with a small cable network looking to introduce broadband or triple play services to their customers. Previously, these applications had an option to purchase very expensive boxes that support thousands of modems or the purchase of low-cost, low-bandwidth refurbished units. The miniCMTS200a provides smaller networks with the functionality and bandwidth they need without having to pay for additional modem support," said Andrew Isherwood, chief technology officer at Pico Digital.
