Latin America. Avid showcased upcoming innovations for the Avid MediaCentral Platform—an open, extensible, and customizable common services foundation that meets Avid Everywhere's strategic vision for the media and entertainment industry.
The company announced plans for resolution independence across the platform and the next phase of the Avid Connectivity Toolkit. These innovations focus on helping organizations and media professionals connect with their audiences in more powerful, efficient, and lucrative ways.
Avid Resolution Independence will give customers freedom of choice and flexibility to work as they wish. Professionals will be able to work with 4K material and other high-resolution formats anywhere in the world, seamlessly switching from native to proxy material, taking advantage of the newly introduced Avid DNxHR codec. Whether on-premises or in the cloud, the workflow will enable customers to ingest, store, organize, edit, protect, analyze and distribute material in SD, HD, 4K and others within existing infrastructure.
Avid Resolution Independence will provide a holistic, platform-focused approach that doesn't limit the resolutions customers can capture, edit and produce —delivering on Avid Everywhere's promise to help professionals work the way they want. The system will allow customers to acquire, edit and produce.
The next phase of this comprehensive program for third-party developers, first announced at NAB 2014, now gives partners access to the resources, documentation, certification and services they need to create the products and solutions that integrate into the Avid MediaCentral Platform ecosystem and sell them on the Avid Marketplace.
Several companies are using the Connectivity Toolkit to seamlessly integrate their products and services into the MediaCentral Platform. Among them are: Telestream, arvato Systems/S4M, make.tv, ChyronHego, Apogee, In addition, several development partners have used the new Connectivity Toolkit to produce more than 20 new plug-ins for Pro Tools, which are available for sale on the Avid Marketplace.
