Many of these products are already in use in various applications. Without going too far, the first live football broadcast of the World Cup used an R&S AVHE100 header with 4K technology. To monitor the 4K/UHD transmission, the BMM-810 multi-screen content and monitoring system from GMIT, a subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, was also used.
For its part, the broadcasting operator KBS in Korea uses terrestrial transmitters from Rohde & Schwarz, along with the corresponding T&M instrumentation, to transmit the first 4K programs. To improve the efficiency of their transmissions, both network operators and OTT providers can turn to Rohde & Schwarz's header and monitoring solutions. From a certain bandwidth, HEVC encoding allows you to transmit more services or improve the quality of the image in terms of its resolution.
The company DVS, a subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, has been offering 4K processing systems for film post-production since 2005. The CLIPSTER mastering station processes 4K data in real time and supports mezzanine formats, such as AS-02 and AS-11, and can generate the corresponding IMF (interoperable master format) packages up to 4K. CLIPSTER supports Dolby Atmos, making it possible for post-production studios to easily create Dolby Atmos DCP that are seamlessly inserted into existing workflows, to improve efficiency.
To store the huge volumes of data from 4K production environments, and up to 8K, the SpycerBox Cell solution is available. Computers can be easily clustered using Remo SAN web-based software. A single rack drive has 36 TB and a net data transfer rate of up to 3 GB/s per unit; SpycerBox Cell is therefore an extraordinary combination of efficiency and functionality.
