Mexico. Emphasizing the necessary technology, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications of Mexico, IFT, initiated a national campaign, by radio and television, to publicize the benefits of digital television.
In simple language, the new advertising explains the technical requirements necessary to access the digital television service, such as having a digital TELEVISION or having a set-top box for old televisions. In addition, it highlights free service.
One of the most visible points of DTT is also mentioned, such as the best quality of the image and sound through the open signal, since the channels are broadcast in high definition. In addition, it opens the possibility for there to be a greater variety of programs and television channels.
The campaign is used to promote the portal www.tdt.mx in which you can find the basic information of the service aimed at citizens, with topics such as what should be done in the transition, how much it costs for the citizen and when it should be done.
Mexico adopted the American digital television standard, known as ATSC. The initial goal for the analog blackout was set for 2021, but was later changed to December 2015.
