Latin America. The company Egatel presented its new UHF transmitters of high efficiency in broadband (WHET series, WideBand High Efficiency Transmitters) cooled by liquid, based on Doherty technology, and as a novelty, with the potential of UHF broadband, with which no change or modification in the amplifiers would be necessary before a change of channel.
Within this new series of liquid-cooled transmitters, characterized by its modular design, is a 3.3KW DVB/ISDB (4.9KW ATSC) transmitter with integration of the pump system in the same rack as the transmitter. In this way, a significant reduction in costs and floor space is achieved.
In air cooling it has the Doherty amplifier of 600 Wrms DVB / ISDB (700Wrms ATSC), with which integrations of up to 5 amplifiers per rack can be carried out, reaching powers close to 3 kW in DVB / ISDB (3.5KW in ATSC), with energy efficiency.
The design of these amplifiers includes aspects that synthesize all the "know-how" of Egatel, avoiding the circulation of air by plates or components, redundant removable power supplies on the front or arranging the fans on the outside for a simple replacement without having to open the module.
The Doherty technology applied in amplifiers provides a performance of up to 42%, optimizing energy consumption and, therefore, operating costs.
The company reported that in April it supplied the first transmitters with this new series just presented, as is the case of a 5KW ATSC transmitter for Mexico (Grupo Pazos) and 2 transmitters of 6KW DVB-T/T2 and 1 transmitter 2.2 DVB-T/T2 for Panama (TVN Media).
