International. NewTek announced that it has finished its work with YouTube to ensure compatibility of TriCaster and 3Play as powerful and affordable tools for sports companies of any size, to live broadcast a wide range of competitive activities through YouTube's live sports webcast service.
With over a billion monthly views, YouTube plays a growing role as an online distributor of live sports coverage. TriCaster represents the industry standard for high-quality, yet affordable, multi-camera production and webcasting. 3Play is a professional server for slow-motion replays, essential for sports production, and is available at a fraction of the price of traditional replay systems. Together they level the playing field for sports producers on YouTube.
"Today, spectators pretend to see professionally produced sports activities. They won't settle for watching sports programming that lacks essentials, such as instant replays and on-screen graphics. Professional-looking TV scenarios are also vitally important, and can be achieved with the Virtual TriCaster. YouTube compatibility means teams of any size can reach their fans in ways they could only dream of before," said Andrew Cross, Chief Technology Officer at NewTek.
Traditionally, very high quality sports productions came with very high prices, as they required a production truck that cost tens of thousands of dollars to rent during a single game or match. TriCaster and 3Play allow sports institutions to improve the production quality of their programs, whether for on-air or webcasting, without requiring a large capital outlay from acquiring professional video equipment or the operational expense of a TV production truck.
"In the past, cost has been prohibitive," said Perry Tobin, technology manager for YouTube's Sports channel. "Fortunately, products like TriCaster and 3Play have lowered the cost of entry for this space. Although before you needed to hire a satellite truck, now you only need an inter-electronic connection, a TriCaster and a 3Play, and you are ready to broadcast with instant replays, tremendous virtual scenarios created with a small green screen, and everything you can expect from cable TV content."
