Colombia. The offices of the distributor VCR in Bogotá served as panasonic's headquarters to make a day of presentation of two of its new products.
The first of these was the HS6000 AV reference switcher, a broadcast live mixer, designed for production rooms and mobile units. It uses a newly designed graphical interface, which makes it easy to operate using a touchpad.
The main unit features 32 SDI inputs and 2 DVI inputs, plus 16 SDI outputs, while four DVEs per ME bench allow for multiple transitions in creative productions that require high-paced work. The mixer offers four independently configurable multi-screen outputs, with a maximum of 16 windows per channel.
It has a non-volatile memory to store video clips, which can be optionally expanded to accommodate 81 clips of 30 seconds each. It has a very intuitive arrangement of the buttons, which is completed with the 10.1-inch touch panel, which in addition to showing the menu also allows to show a multiscreen output.
It also incorporates color correctors in eight inputs and four outputs, four keyer per ME bank (total of 8 channels), with capacity for PiP, web server function, which allows to use the mixer through a LAN connection. It is possible to develop complementary software, to control external devices depending on the required workflow.
Carlos Black, Senior Supervisor of Broadcast Systems of Panasonic Latin America, and who had the main voice during the day, indicated that the occasion was used to show customers the new codecs and algorithms that are being developed under MP4 and that are known as AVC Ultra. He highlighted the advantages of working in MP4 with low bit rates, which simplifies the use of data through networks or spaces that are reduced.
Another product was the PX 270 camera of the AVC Ultra series. The particularity of this camera, in addition to using all Panasonic recording formats, is that it allows you to share the recorded content almost instantly and access it from anywhere.
Initially, the camera offers a wireless workflow over LAN networks, which will be expanded with 3G, 4G or LTE connectivity by the second half of the year. With two microP2 card slots, it offers the possibility of simultaneous recording on two cards.
