Brazil. Football has been the event chosen by the fabrcantes who are working on 4K technology to test the different workflows and live broadcast. So it was in the last Conference Cup and will be done in the final of next year's World Cup, both events based in Brazil.
Nicolas Ericson, director of FifaTV, was in charge of announcing that the final of the tournament will be broadcast in 4K, taking advantage of the boom of this technology around the world, as evidenced by the different launches of televisions under this technology for consumers and broadcast solutions.
In addition, both Fifa and manufacturers want to take advantage of the fact that a large number of industry-leading channels in different countries are adjusting their systems to work in 4K, such as Globo in Brazil, Canal + of Spain, Eutelsat of France, NHL of Japan, among others.
Nicolas Ericson said: "The 4K World Cup final is the next natural evolution. We believe 4K will create a richer and more exciting visual experience for viewers."
This broadcast will confirm once again that sporting events are the best scenario to test new technologies in television. At the last World Cup, held in 2010, 3D transmission was put to the test.
