Colombia. To break with the paradigms of traditional film distribution, the producers of the film La Sirga, by director William Vega (photo), have decided to make an online premiere the day before its premiere in the country's cinemas.
For this transmission via streaming, which will take place on August 23 between eight and ten at night, the platform of the company Multistream, specialized in internet video transmission, was chosen.
The idea of this premiere is not to reduce its first diffusion to the nearly 500 cinema screens that exist in Colombia, it is to use new technologies to reach millions of computer screens and mobile devices, as well as democratize access to cinema and culture in general.
"Presenting the film online really is a very novel initiative and, above all, very consistent with our times in which the network, that kind of 'platonic world', has become completely important in our daily lives," said producer Oscar Ruiz Navia, of Contravía Films.
La Sirga is a film that participated in the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival, France, received two awards at the Lima Film Festival, Peru, and was selected to participate in the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Spain.
Whoever wishes to participate in the premier, must register in www.peliculalasirga.com and at the return of mail will receive the link that will allow you to follow the premier on the day and time indicated.
