International. For the recording of a documentary that included the sounds of the deep sea, the company Ambient Recording created a housing that allowed it to use the Sound Devices 788T recording equipment to withstand these conditions.
As explained by Timo Klinge, marketing director of the company, "We knew we wanted to use these sound recorders when we created our surround sound equipment underwater, with good results. The housing is extremely compact, very sturdy and allows you to record excellent sound."
The case, which was designed for all Sound Devices Company 7 Series Sound Recording Devices, is made of seawater-resistant aluminum anodizing and PTFE coated, giving it the highest possible durability and stability.
The upper part is four centimeters thick of plexiglass that allows a wide view on the screens of the 7 series devices. In addition, the housing allows the control of different functions of the device. It is waterproof up to 100 meters and weighs 10 kilos, including the recorder.
"We have tested the platform and again and sound device equipment has exceeded our expectations. The documentary The Cannon crackers of the pistol shrimp, filmed on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, has unique sounds," concluded Timo Klinge.
