International. 3D image processing company Sensio Technologies and Samsung Electronics have reached a patent licensing agreement on the Sensio S2D switch.
With this agreement, Samsung will be able to implement this switch in its 3D TVs. As part of the licensing agreement, neither company disclosed the financial terms of the negotiation.
"After licensing from other manufacturers last year, the signing of this agreement with Samsung is another important milestone and validates our S2D patent. It means changing licensing strategy that we have worked on for a long time," said Nicholas Routhier, President and CEO of Sensio.
The S2D switch allows users to switch the display mode from one 3D channel to 2D or between different 3D display modes. It supports the most popular supported formats covered by HDMI 1.4a, and is used by 3D support service providers today.
Nicholas Routhier concluded that this agreement positively influences the ongoing negotiations with other TV manufacturers that have implemented or are considering the integration of S2D switching technology.
