International. With the arrival of the new year, China joins the small group of Asian countries that have television channels for exclusive 3D transmission, among which are India, South Korea and Japan.
Viewers of China 3DTV must have a TV with this technology and its glasses, as well as a signal in high definition. This new channel is in a period of test broadcast with programming for 13 hours a day, with sports programs, cartoons and documentaries.
During this first period it has 3D transmission in five regions of the country, including Tianjin, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. The start of its 24-hour programming is scheduled for January 23 and one of its challenges is to broadcast the London Olympic Games.
In each of the five regions where China 3DTV can currently be seen there is a network involved in the project, all coordinated by China Central Television, CCTV.
And while this happens in Asia, in Latin America the manufacturers of televisions, cameras and 3D projectors seek to open a market for this segment despite the little content available. Although it is not possible to ignore the effort that some channels in the region have made to broadcast live events, especially sports, in 3D.
