Chile. The Chilean government headed by Ministers Rodrigo Álvarez, of Energy, and Pedro Errázuriz, of Telecommunications, began a campaign to disseminate the energy efficiency seal that all television devices and digital signal decoders must have, so that users can know which are more efficient in the use of energy.
The objective of the campaign is to inform and deliver a quality service to Chilean consumers, the seal developed by the Ministry of Energy and validated by the SEC (Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels), aims to guide the choice of those products that best use the energy resource in the moments of "Stand By".
This information campaign also seeks to bring closer and raise awareness among citizens about the importance of efficient consumption and consequently, emphasize the savings that this has for families who use this important communication channel daily and their future change to high-definition transmissions.
In this sense, "the stamps are a concrete help so that people can easily distinguish which televisions, set-top boxes and other equipment serve to receive free of charge the signals of open digital television, and now with the incorporation of the energy efficiency label, users will be able to know the energy consumption of the equipment they buy and be informed of the economic benefits that this implies", Errázuriz said.
