HaiVision Network Video demonstrated during NAB 2010 its new Makito decoder, a device dedicated to the challenge of high-performance, high-density decoding. This latest addition to the Makito family supports H.264 and definitions up to 1080p60 and video over IP delivery with less than 100 milliseconds of latency between start and finish, as long as it works in conjunction with the Makito encoder.
The set-top box can be installed as a self-contained device or within a multi-card HaiVision chassis, accommodating up to six units in 1RU rack. The decoder supports with high performance the decoding of compute formats encoded by Makito encoders in resolutions up to 1920x1080 and full frame rates in addition to all standard HD resolutions up to 1080p60.
Working on HaiVision's secure video over IP distribution, the Makito decoder supports FEC error recovery, adjustable IP buffering and 128-bit AES encryption.
