Omneon announced that its servers Spectrum and MediaDeck support high-performance HD format AVC-Intra. The new MediaPort modules for the server Spectrum media and Omneon's Integrated MediaDeck Server, provide real-time encoding and decoding of HD material using the AVC-Intra codec.
AVC-Intra is based in the MPEG-4 standard, part 10 Intra, and offers recording of high quality and playback at almost half the bitrate of MPEG-2-based codecs. With the new MIP-5600 line of MediaPort for Spectrum and MediaDeck systems, the inputs of Original video streams can be encoded in the format AVC-Intra in real time, creating formatted AVC-I files within server systems and can be edited by non-linear editors that support the format. The archives AVC-Intra can then be decoded by the MediaPorts, to reproduction.
The Mip-5600 line of MediaPort, which includes the MIP 5601 and MIP-5602 for the Spectrum system and the MDM-5601 for the MediaDeck, is based on the specification Panasonic AVC-Intra and is fully compatible with cameras Panasonic and the recording equipment, both in AVC-Intra 50 modes and 100. Each video channel supports up to 16 audio channels embedded or four separate audio channels.
The new MediaPort modules, from Omneon, also allow direct transfer of content AVC-Intra from Panasonic's P2 media system to the system Spectrum and the MediaDeck server, for editing and playback. Non-linear editors that support the format, including those announced by Apple, Avid and Grass Valley, will be in willingness to mount Spectrum file systems or MediaDeck to edit the content in place, reducing the need for lagas transfers.
The new MediaPorts can be easily connected to existing Spectrum servers to add AVC-Intra functionalities and can be mixed with others MediaPort, from Omneon for SD within the same system. The addition from a new MediaPort to an existing server does not require disruptive and most update procedures cases can be done while the system is online.
