The 2007 Special Olympic Games were webcast

Chinese and U.S. students brought the 2007 Special Olympics to the internet thanks to the use of Telestream's FlipFactory and Flip4Mac, which allowed the conversion of original video to network formats.

Telestream, provider of workflow automation solutions for transcoding, announced that its FlipFactory and Flip4Mac for Video Compression Helped Bring the Games Special Olympics 2007 to internet users around of the world. The Special Olympic Games were broadcast from Shanghai, China, in October and are available on the site official games (www.specialolympicslive.org). The project student-led internet was developed together by Fudan University in Shanghai and the University of Carolina of the North, in the United States.

The Games will be remembered as the ten days that changed the face of the Games Special forever, meter Wheeler said, Executive Vice President of the Special Games. Were ten days during which hundreds of millions of people throughout China, Asia and the world appreciated and achieved greater understanding of the extraordinary virtues that people do with intellectual disabilities have to offer the world. There were ten days during which sports were seen in its purest form as 7500 athletes, representing of 164 nations, demonstrated their skills, courage and spirit sports before a record audience. We are grateful to Telestream for allowing these moments to become a reality for millions of people around the world via the internet.

The ambitious project on the internet convened more than 300 university students from the United States United states and China who worked tirelessly during ten days to capture 1500 hours of competition, which were processed and edited in more than 7000 video shorts. Meanwhile coding continues, organizers hope to compile nearly 10,000 video shorts from all athletes for end of December.

Chinese students and their peers in the United States they recorded the events of the games and sent tapes to Mac labs at four universities in Shanghai where the material was edited in Apple's Final Cut Pro. With the help of Flip4Mac Windows Media components for Telestream's QuickTime, Final Cut Pro systems compressed the video to transfer it to Fudan University where the Telestream's FlipFactory software ran non-stop automatically in a server array, it transcoded files into multiple formats for the internet and sent them to the production web server. Telestream products allowed students easily work in a cross-platform media environment.
