The PDW-F1600 XDCAM HD422 recording deck takes advantage of the foundation laid by the features of the PDW-HD1500 and can be used for file-based recordings in studios and outdoor operations. A Gigabit Ethernet disk drive for data can write to optical discs any flash memory file format from any codec, and the operator can take a preliminary look at the files using a Web browser, can transfer them over IT networks, and can easily archive them.
The new deck offers a new insert/mount editing capability that allows it to operate as a recorder in a linear editing system – exactly like a conventional VCR.
It delivers 24-bit high-quality quad-channel audio recording, and features a dual optical receiver to transfer files at higher speeds. A 4.3" color LCD display (10.92 cm, diagonally measured viewable area) and built-in speakers are part of the unit, which is operable with batteries or DC and DC power supplies.
