To meet the needs of high quality, bitrate efficiency and HD contribution/return links, Grass-Valley launched at NAB the ViBE EM3100 MPEG-4 4:2:2 encoder and the ViBE iRD3100 MPEG-4 4:2:2 decoder, designed for fixed and mobile applications, as well as for live transmissions.
With the new ViBE encoder, transmitters can use more efficient MPEG-4 compression, achieving a superior quality image of 4:2:2 and about 30 Mb/s. This allows them to make significant savings in bandwidth. For its part, the ViBE iRD-3100 MPEG-4 decoder can be used on the receiving site.
The contribution codecs are located in a compact unit, ideal for installation in limited areas such as satellites or mobiles. They have features particularly designed for live streams, including low latency (in the range of 350 to 850 ms) and a boot time of less than 15 seconds.
