The German firm Riedel Communications kept in reserve the details of its main announcement for NAB, the MediorNet, until the day of its presentation to the press at the fair. The MediorNet is a platform for signal transport based on fiber optics, for multi-channel HD/SD video, audio, communication and data. Each MediorNet unit has a 32x32 720p/1080i signal router, 184x184 SD-SDI signals, AES 27,000x27,000 signals and any combination of these.
MediorNet has an open network topology that supports ring, star, daisy models or their combinations, allowing users to design the system exactly according to their needs. It offers Link Cards with and without CWDM multiplexers integrated into the MediorNet network, with a bandwidth of up to 153Gbit/s in a single fiber link.
The MediorNet fiber link consists of a duplex fiber that allows bidirectional signal transport. Its standard fiber optic transceivers have a minimum budget of 18db, which allows distances of up to 40 kilometers. The open structure of the software allows easy integration with future processing and conversion tools from Riedel or third-party manufacturers, eliminating the need for external devices.
During NAB, Riedel closed a deal with L.A. Live Sports and Entertainment, which will incorporate the MediorNet system into its operations. The agreement contemplates the purchase of eight systems that will offer an integrated transport and signal routing solution for the different areas of L.A. Live.
